Holy Spirit Tuesday – Lesson 9 – Highlights from Video: “Hearing the Holy Spirit.” (6-17-2025)

The following points are highlights from the video by David Diga Hernandez, which is available on our website, OverflowfromTheWell.com

1. Relax.
When you finally do begin to relax, you actually begin to walk in freedom and trust.

2. Read the Word.
The Word makes you familiar with the voice of the Holy Spirit. Don’t tell me you want to hear the Holy Spirit if you’re not dedicated to the Word.

3. Meditate on the Word.
I’m not talking about the counterfeit. I’m talking about the biblical, true version of meditation, which is to fill your mind with the Word of God, to fill your mind with the things of God, and to concentrate on those.

If you can worry, you can meditate.

4. Slow down. Prioritize.
His yoke, his teaching, his way of thinking, his way of living, his way of perceiving is light. Pray, worship, read the Word, go to church, and fellowship with believers. And if your life is so fast-paced that it’s a struggle to do that, then you need to start doing some serious reflection. Your soul is in danger when you live a life of worry and haste, when you live a life that’s so fast-paced that it crowds out the sacred and the spiritual.

5. Obey what’s clear.
Delay is disobedience. You have to obey what God is speaking to you.

What are our excuses?

6. Seek God passionately.
In James 4:8, it says, “Come close to God and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, purify your hearts for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
